# 434 shoe pickups in 11 days: 433 reached the screen, and we know why one did not

A screen that reacts on a good day proves little. We took every pickup our test shoe table recorded between 30 September and 10 October 2026 and checked, one by one, whether its product was sent to the screen and how long that took.

## The short answer

**433 of 434 recorded pickups were sent to the screen, a median of 9 milliseconds after GoTrack decided a shoe had been picked up, and 99% within 31 milliseconds.** The one exception happened while the screen itself was disconnected for eight minutes; the pickup was still recorded and still appears in the reports.

- **433 of 434**: Pickups sent to the screen
- **9 ms**: Median from the pickup decision to the screen command
- **31 ms**: 99% of pickups were sent within this

30 September – 10 October 2026, GoTrack's test shoe table: one store device, two cameras, one screen, three shoes. Method below.

## How fast the screen was told

- under 5 ms: **37**
- 5–10 ms: **196**
- 10–15 ms: **58**
- 15–20 ms: **98**
- 20–30 ms: **38**
- 30–57 ms: **6**

Time from the pickup decision to the screen command · number of pickups

433 pickups sent to the screen. The median, 9 ms, falls in the highlighted bar; the slowest took 57 ms.

## Every pickup, accounted for

| What | Pickups |
|---|---|
| Sent to a connected screen | 433 |
| Recorded while the screen was disconnected | 1 |
| **Total recorded pickups** | **434** |

Half of the screen commands left within 9 ms of the decision, nine in ten within 20 ms, and the slowest in 57 ms.

## How we measured

- **What counted:** every pickup the store device recorded on the test table in the period, 434 in all, across three shoes.
- **What was matched:** each pickup to the screen command for the same spot on the table, sent within 5 seconds after it.
- **The clock:** both moments come from the store device's own log, so no network time is mixed in.
- **The one miss:** on 1 October the screen was disconnected from 13:30 to 13:38 (Türkiye time) during a day of updates, and a pickup came at 13:35. The same day we released an update that brings the screen back on its own; no screen disconnection has been logged since.

## What this does not include

- **The time from the hand lifting the shoe to GoTrack's decision.** That part is not in these numbers yet.
- **The time for the screen to paint the content after the command.** A separate measurement covers it, from GoTrack's decision to the screen's paint acknowledgement: [a median of 0.35 s with one product](https://gotrackgo.com/en/screen-reaction-time-measured).
- **Whether every pickup was real.** Some of the 434 were false double pickups (a neighbouring shoe briefly counted as lifted), which a separate fix addresses. This note measures delivery to the screen, not recognition.
- **A store.** Our own team lifted the shoes. Store runs will be added to the [lab notes](https://gotrackgo.com/en/lab).

## Questions

### How quickly does the screen change when a product is picked up?

In our test measurement on 30 September 2026, the screen acknowledged painting the product within 0.71 s of GoTrack deciding which product was in hand, in all 24 acknowledged fires: a median of 0.35 s with one product and 0.51 s with two. One of the 25 fires sent no acknowledgement. The time from the lift itself to that decision is not included and not yet measured separately. Method: [the reaction time note](https://gotrackgo.com/en/screen-reaction-time-measured).

### How do GoTrack screens decide what to show?

When a shopper holds a product, the screen linked to that area shows that product's content, and keeps showing it while the product is held. When no one is holding anything, the screen plays its playlist. The screens do not need to be touchscreens.

### What happens if the store's internet goes down?

Recognition, screens and event recording carry on in the store. Screens play their stored content, and events wait on the device and are sent with their real times when the connection returns. In our test on 4 September 2026, every showing during a 7-minute outage reached the screen and its record reached the cloud afterwards.
