# Planning a shoe wall with pickup data

A shoe wall is a grid of decisions: which model goes at eye level, which colours sit together, what goes next to the bestseller. Pickup data shows how shoppers actually use it.

## The short answer

**Measure each model's lifts, inspection time and put-backs by position on the wall, then move one thing at a time and compare.** The wall shows what shoppers reach for; the numbers show whether a good model is losing out to a poor position.

## What the wall tells you

| Signal | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Lifts by position | Rows or ends of the wall that draw hands whatever model stands there |
| Inspection time | Models turned over for longer: interest worth supporting with content or a better spot |
| Put-backs | Models lifted often and returned: check sizes, price and what they are compared with |
| Compared models | Models lifted one after the other: keep them close |
| Never-touched models | Models nobody lifts: try a better position before dropping them |

## A simple wall test

1. **Record the wall as it is**: Lifts, inspection time and put-backs for every model, over a normal period.
2. **Move one model**: For example, swap a model that is rarely lifted with one at eye level.
3. **Measure the same period again**: The same days of the week, with no campaign in between.
4. **Compare both models, and their neighbours**: Did the moved model gain lifts, and did the one it replaced lose them?

## Good to know

- **Model and colour, not size:** GoTrack measures which shoe was lifted, not its size.

### Which products does GoTrack work best with?

### Do we need a data-science team to add new products?

No. Adding a product is a guided step in the panel, and product details can be imported from a product page on your website.

### Can we test a new product placement with GoTrack?

Yes, as a before-and-after comparison: move a product to a new shelf zone or fixture and compare its pickups, hold time and put-backs with the period before. GoTrack shows the change; it does not run statistical tests for you.
