Product interaction glossary

Short definitions of the terms used in in-store product analytics and smart screens, as GoTrack uses them.

GoBot, the GoTrack robot, in a store
Product interaction analytics
Measuring what shoppers do with products in a physical store — which are picked up, how long they are held, which are put back — rather than how many people walk in.
Pickup
A shopper taking a product from the shelf, rack or table. GoTrack records the product, colour, shelf zone and time.
Hold time
How long a product stays in a shopper's hand after a pickup. It measures interest in the product, not time spent standing nearby.
Put-back
A product that is picked up and returned to the shelf. The put-back rate is the share of pickups that end this way.
Never-touched product
A product on the shelf that draws almost no pickups over a period: a signal about placement, visibility or appeal.
Compared together
Products picked up one after the other by the same shopper: the pairs weighed against each other.
Store visit
Interactions close together in time, grouped into one visit, to show how many products a visit explored. No shopper is identified.
Shelf zone
An area of a shelf, rack or wall that a camera watches. Reports can be split by zone.
Lift and learn
An in-store display where picking up a product brings its content onto a nearby screen. GoTrack does it with cameras instead of sensors or tags.
Presentation mode
A GoTrack mode for showrooms and fairs: a product held up to the camera is shown on the screen while it is held.
Content performance
Which screen content goes with longer holds of the product it shows, per asset and per store.
In-store (edge) processing
Analysing camera images on a device in the store instead of sending video to the cloud. GoTrack sends only product events.
Visitor counting
Counting how many people enter a store or area. GoTrack offers it on request, anonymously, without face recognition.
Idle playlist
The content a screen plays when nobody is holding a product.
KVKK
Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 6698). Retailers using in-store cameras assess their obligations under it as data controllers.
