From the hand to the screen: we measured GoTrack's screen reaction time

How long does the screen take to show a product once GoTrack has recognised it in a shopper's hand? We timed every fire of a test session and publish the numbers with their method and their limits.

GoBot, the GoTrack robot, in a store

The short answer

Once GoTrack has recognised the product in a shopper's hand, the screen shows it in about a third of a second: a median of 0.35 s with one product on the screen and 0.51 s when two products share it. The slowest of the 24 measured fires took 0.71 s.

How we measured

  • Where: GoTrack's test setup: one screen, one store device, 8 garments.
  • When: 30 September 2026, 11:26–13:32 (İstanbul time), 25 fires.
  • What was timed: from the moment GoTrack decided which product was in hand until the screen reported that the product content was painted, on the store device's clock, including that report's trip back.
  • What counted: 24 of the 25 fires reported their render. One fire with two products on the screen did not report; it is left out, not estimated.

What we learned

A second product costs about 0.15 s. When a shopper picks up a second product, the screen builds a two-product layout instead of swapping one picture, and that is where the extra time goes.

The report's trip back is inside every number, so the moment the content reaches the glass is, if anything, a little earlier than these figures.

What is not included, and what comes next

  • The time from lifting a product to GoTrack recognising it is not in these numbers. GoTrack now records when a product is first seen in a hand and logs first-seen to screen on every fire; we will publish that measurement here, with its date.
  • One day in a test setup is not a benchmark. We will repeat the measurement in stores and add each run to the lab notes.

Questions

How do GoTrack screens decide what to show?

When a shopper holds a product, the screen linked to that area shows that product's content, and keeps showing it while the product is held. When no one is holding anything, the screen plays its playlist. The screens do not need to be touchscreens.

Can GoTrack do lift and learn without sensors?

Yes. When a shopper picks up a product, the screen beside it shows that product's content. GoTrack uses the store's cameras, so there are no sensors, tags or pads on the products, and no touchscreen is needed.

How quickly does the screen change when a product is picked up?

In our measurement on 30 September 2026, the screen showed the product within 0.71 s of GoTrack deciding which product was in hand, in all 24 measured fires: a median of 0.35 s with one product on screen and 0.51 s with two. The time from the lift itself to that decision is not yet measured separately.
